Ramelow wants to limit the range of movement of the citizens of Thuringia

The citizens of Thuringia must adapt to the new and more stringent rules of the crown in view of the still high infection values. Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (Linke) said on Sunday that he had proposed to the cabinet, following the example of Saxony, to limit the range of movement of people in the Free State to 15 kilometers around their place of residence. The Thuringian cabinet will make decisions on Tuesday after the federal-state talks.

Ramelow also reacted to the rush over the weekend in the winter sports areas in the Thuringian Forest, where people from different parts of the country and Franconia gathered despite officially enforceable contact restrictions.

The closure is likely to be extended

According to Ramelow, schools and kindergartens in the Free State will be closed until the end of January. That is how long the closure would last. Emergency care must be “reduced form only” through February 1. Thereafter, limited regular operation should resume. In Thuringia, it is also planned that students in years in which the degrees are pending, as well as their teachers with a negative corona test, can return to schools in January.

On Tuesday, the prime ministers of the federal states want to discuss how to proceed with the crown crisis and a possible continuation of the shutdown together with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU). An extension beyond January 10 is considered likely. In addition to Ramelow, other prime ministers have also spoken in favor of extending the regulations until the end of the month. “A premature relaxation would set us back a lot,” said Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) of “Bild am Sonntag”. It wasn’t until mid-January that we really learned how Christmas and New Year’s Eve would have affected the number of infections. “We have to be consistent and not give up too soon.”
