The Istanbul professional Demba Ba persuaded Coltescu and said, “If you mention a white man, you don’t say ‘The white man over there’ either!” After heated discussions lasting almost ten minutes, Basaksehir’s coach Okan Buruk made the decision: he ordered his team and all the field staff. The outside microphones were heard as the referee team tried to defend themselves saying that the fourth official had only said “Negru”.

PSG and their German coach Thomas Tuchel also entered the catacombs. “Our assistant coach Webo was racially insulted,” Basaksehir tweeted after the incident. A few minutes later, the club posted the UEFA slogan on its Twitter account: “No to racism.”
Even an hour after the scandal, both teams had not returned to the field. It was not clear for a long time if play would resume or if Basaksehir refused to continue playing. For a long time nothing was heard from Uefa. The PSG professionals stayed hot in the cockpit tunnel for a long time, but then disappeared back into the locker room. Then supervisors for both teams cleared the replacement benches, one more indication of a breakdown. More than two hours after the scandal, it was finally clear that the game would not continue.
