A similar number of counter-protesters from the “Düsseldorf is opposite” alliance (DSSQ) gathered at various locations in the city center. Among them also representatives of churches, trade unions, hospital and nursing staff, cultural workers of the “Düsseldorfer Appell” alliance, which turns against xenophobia and racism.

The police are present throughout the downtown area. A large contingent also showed a presence at the “Querdenker” demonstration in the Rheinpark, including a squad of cavalry and two water cannons, which did not have to be used.

In the preliminary balance, the police registered a total of arrests and four criminal charges in the night.

On one stage, speakers raised their spirits against crown restrictions and an alleged forced vaccination.

The organizers initially announced the call for the rally with the portrait of NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet (59, CDU), but removed the photo after the intervention of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Chancellery.

In recent days, a discussion has emerged about whether the Office for the Protection of the Constitution should observe the “lateral thinking” movement. Evidence of radicalization and infiltration of extremists had already emerged. Supporters of the initiative and branches of the movement have taken to the streets in numerous German cities against restrictions in the Crown crisis in recent months.
