Over the weekend, clashes between protesters and Trump supporters in the city center resulted in violent clashes. One person died.
Development could play Trump in the cards
The incident raises concerns about a further escalation of violence between groups on the right and left. Last Tuesday, two people were shot and killed on the brink of protests against racism and police violence in the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin. A 17-year-old white male was arrested as a suspect. Armed with a rapid-fire rifle, the teenager had apparently joined a group of men who said they wanted to protect buildings from attacks by protesters.
The latest developments could play Trump in the cards. Observers assume that Trump’s chances of reelection increase the less the discourse revolves around the pandemic. In fact, Trump avoids the issue and instead continues to talk about the security situation in the country. The current violence at the protests is just a preview of what it would look like across the country if Biden wins the election, Trump said.
Praying sharpens the tone

At the same time, Biden condemned the riots on the sidelines of anti-racism protests. “The riots are not a protest. The looting is not a protest. The arson is not a protest. This is simply anarchy.” Those responsible for such acts must be held accountable. “Violence will not bring change,” said the 77-year-old. “It will only bring destruction.”
