Earlier in the week, a one-year-old girl was seriously injured in an accident involving the vehicle column of the Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg, Kretschmann, now the girl is dying. The green politician reacts immediately.
A one-year-old girl was killed after a car collided with an escort vehicle belonging to the head of the Baden-Württemberg Green Party, Winfried Kretschmann. That’s what the police said. The one-year-old boy was sitting in the car that crashed into an escort vehicle of Kretschmann’s column that was stopped by the roadside last Monday.
The boy had suffered fatal injuries in the crash on Autobahn 81 north of Heilbronn. The prime minister reacted in dismay: “We knew about the critical situation the girl was in.” With each day that she was alive, the hope grew a little that the boy would make it.
“I am filled with sadness, as are my employees who had to witness the terrible accident that occurred shortly after ours,” Kretschmann said. His thoughts are with the parents, who have now experienced the worst that can happen to a mother and father: the death of their own child.
Kretschmann’s limousine, the first vehicle in a column, had likely drifted off the lane due to hydroplaning on Autobahn 81. According to police, the vehicle first struck a railing and then stopped on the shoulder. Then an escort vehicle and a police car stopped behind Kretschmann.
Another vehicle skidded a little later due to hydroplaning and crashed into the accompanying vehicle. The one-year-old was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle. The 33-year-old driver of this car was also seriously injured. The 29-year-old passenger was slightly injured.
The accident also worries the judiciary. The Heilbronn Public Prosecutor has launched investigations into the child’s life-threatening injuries. A spokesperson for authorities said Friday that there is suspicion of negligent bodily harm against the 33-year-old man, who is said to have caused the accident and is reportedly the boy’s father.
It is investigated ex officio, not on the basis of a complaint. When considering the case, the dire consequences for the 33-year-old and a justified waiver of punishment could also play a role. In addition, the police are investigating the head of government’s driver in an administrative infringement procedure. In the event of an infringement of traffic regulations, the fines department may impose a fine.
