He has the worst name a person can have in this world: Adolf Hitler! But the man is not a Nazi. On the other hand. He got into politics, began his career with former Swapo anti-apartheid fighters.
On Wednesday, Adolf Hitler Uunona (that’s his full name) was sworn in as district administrator of Namibia’s constitution. Previously, he had obtained 84.88 per cent of the vote in regional elections in the Ompundja district in the Oshana region (in northern Namibia).
An overwhelming success against the trend! The Swapo lost a majority in these elections in various regions and cities.

BILD caught up with Adolf Hitler Uunona (54) in the car, 33 degrees hot, asked him: How do you live as a politician with THAT name?
“Just having this name doesn’t mean I want to subjugate Oshana now,” he says and laughs. “It does not mean that I am striving for world domination.” Then he gets serious. “My father named me after this man. He probably didn’t understand what Adolf Hitler stood for. “

His wife calls him Adolf, he himself often appears in public as Adolf Uunona, leaving out “Hitler”. He couldn’t change the name. “It is in all the official documents. It’s too late for that “.
The first name Adolf is not uncommon in the former German South West African colony. There is also a German newspaper, German radio stations, street names (such as Bahnhofstraße, Bismarckstraße), German place names (Lüderitz, Mariental, Helmeringhausen, …) and a small German-speaking minority. Until a few years ago, there was even a “Blitzkrieg Bunker Bar”, a heavy metal bar, in the state capital of Windhoek. The ruling Swapo party is based in Hans-Dietrich-Genscher-Strasse.
