Police Request: The National Guard must remain in the US Capitol.

It wasn’t until Wednesday that plans for another attack on the United States Capitol were known. The police responsible for parliament have now asked the Pentagon to keep the National Guard in Washington longer.

The Capitol Police have asked the United States National Guard to remain in the House of Parliament in Washington for a longer period. Rep. Elissa Slotkin told the AP news agency that she learned that Capitol Police had requested a two-month extension in the past 36 hours. The Pentagon is examining the request, it said from the US defense apparatus.

The more than 5,000 National Guard members currently stationed in Washington will be withdrawn on March 12, according to current plans. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said the National Guard should stay on Capitol Hill for as long as necessary.

Worry about new attacks on the Capitol

The reason for the extension request is likely to be fear of violence again on Capitol Hill. Supporters of United States President-elect Donald Trump, who has since left office, stormed the Capitol on January 6 during a session of Congress and wreaked havoc and havoc there. The Capitol Police later came under fire because the security forces were unprepared and unable to stop the intruders.

Pelosi thinks it makes sense to postpone the vote

The Senate met today as usual. The House of Representatives, however, had held voting on the elections and police reform until Wednesday night so that the plenary did not have to meet. So the plenary session could only have lasted a few hours in the morning anyway.

Pelosi also emphasized, however, that there are four times as many deputies in the House of Representatives as there are senators in the Senate.
