Police find girl dead in basement of old workshop
Duisburg In Duisburg there was a big operation by the police and fire brigade early Saturday night. Officers found a 14-year-old girl dead in a dilapidated building in the Hochfeld district.
The body was discovered in the basement of a demolished workshop building on Heerstrasse. As a police spokesperson told our editorial team, the site was difficult to access and firefighters had to clean it up.
It is not yet clear whether a crime or accident caused the girl’s death. Investigate in all directions. It is also not clear yet when the autopsy result will be available.
The discovery was preceded by a search for the girl who had been reported missing by her brother (33) since the previous day, according to a police statement. After that, both the authorities and the relatives were looking for the student.
One thing is clear: the girl has been away from home with a friend of the same age since Friday. They picked him up on the night of October 9 in Düsseldorf and took him to his parents.
According to the police, both the 14-year-old girl and the brother of the missing woman were able to give clues as to the possible whereabouts of the girl. After intense search measures, which included a police helicopter and a trailer sniffer dog, the 14-year-old was found by a police force and rescued by Duisburg firefighters.
The Duisburg prosecutor’s office ordered an autopsy on the body. Kripo is currently conducting several interrogations. So far, no reliable information is available on the circumstances in which the girl died.
