rePolice said they broke up a crowd of around 2,000 people at the Victory Column on Sunday afternoon in Berlin. A police spokesman said the people were too close together. Under the Infection Protection Ordinance, this is not allowed. Police also wrote on Twitter: “An unauthorized gathering of people has formed there, most of whom do not keep their distance or use MNS. People were repeatedly asked by loudspeaker to leave the area. ” There are reprimands and, in individual cases, restrictions on the freedom to establish identity and record personal data, said the police spokesman, who also mentioned the number of around 2,000 people.
The meeting in Großer Stern, a central Berlin square with the Victory Column, is not a recorded rally.
On Saturday, tens of thousands of people gathered in the capital to protest against state requirements for the crown. The “lateral thinking 711” initiative had called for a mass rally and demonstration. They called for the lifting of all restrictions designed to contain the pandemic. On the sidelines of these demonstrations, there were scenes of violence, including in front of the Russian embassy, where protesters threw bottles at police officers. In the Reichstag building, participants in an event dominated by right-wing extremists broke through barriers and stormed the steps of the parliament building with Reich flags.
