The skeleton of an Allosaurus was auctioned in Paris for more than three million euros. As the auction house Drouot announced via Twitter, at 3.07 million euros, the estimate of 1 to 1.2 million euros was significantly exceeded.

The starting price of the negotiation was one million euros. The auction house did not provide any information about the buyer.

The 10-meter-long and 3.5-meter-tall skeleton of the predatory dinosaur, which resembles the Tyrannosaurus rex, is more than 150 million years old, according to the auction house. It was found in the US state of Wyoming in 2016.

70 percent of the bones are present, which is an unusually high integrity of a skeleton. According to the auction house, there is only one comparable copy in the entire world. It is preserved in the Museum of Natural History in New York and measures 9.7 meters long.

Experts are critical of auctions

The skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex alone was sold in New York earlier this month for a record price of $ 31.8 million. Many experts criticize the auction of scientifically valuable skeletons.
