The A1 remains closed between Posthausen and Bremer Kreuz in the direction of Osnabrück until the afternoon. The cause: two truck accidents.

According to police, a 59-year-old truck driver was on the A1 heading to Hamburg when a tire apparently exploded. The truck drifted out of the lane, crossed the center barrier and stayed in the opposite direction through the lane. The driver was not injured in the accident. However, the truck suffered damages of more than 30,000 euros and the loaded lime spread on the road.

Fatal accident in a row

However, the accident had an even more serious outcome, just a few hundred meters away: A 34-year-old truck driver apparently missed the traffic jam caused by the first accident in the morning. He braked too late and pushed two trucks together in front of him. The 34-year-old man was trapped in his driver’s cab and died at the crash site.

A1 motorway closed

According to the police, the rescue and clean-up work will probably last until the afternoon; therefore the A1 will remain completely closed between Posthausen and Bremer Kreuz (district of Verden) in the direction of Osnabrück. Only one lane is released in the direction of Hamburg. Those familiar with the area should drive around the area, police said.
