Overview of Crown Rules in the Federal States

meIn the fight against the corona virus, the federal states can largely autonomously through the introduction. Decide on relief or lifting measures. In view of the increasing number of infections, curfew hours have been imposed, masks have been imposed and accommodation bans have been established. Hoteliers and restaurant owners in particular have resisted this and, in some cases, have also been tried by the courts. Many people who want to travel from one state to another no longer know what rules apply and where. We have an overview for you:

Germany’s internal travel and accommodation rules

Baden-Württemberg: In Baden-Württemberg, there are no entry bans or quarantine requirements for travelers from risk areas in the interior of Germany. The accommodation ban, which was also controversial in the state government, was suspended by the administrative court.

Bayern: The controversial accommodation ban for travelers from Corona’s hotspots will no longer apply in Bavaria as of this Saturday.

Sedan: There are no entry restrictions. The Senate has yet to pass an accommodation ban.

Brandenburg: If you plan to drive to Brandenburg from the Corona hotspots, you can go on excursions or go shopping. The accommodation ban was initially suspended on Friday evening by the Higher Administrative Court of Berlin-Brandenburg. A hotel and a vacation rental landlady had appealed against the regulation with urgent requests.

Bremen: In Bremen, there is no entry ban, no quarantine obligation, and no accommodation ban for travelers from high-risk areas in the interior of Germany.

Hamburg: There is no entry ban for people from domestic risk areas. Overnight guests must confirm in writing that they have not stayed in one in the previous 14 days. If so, you can spend the night with a negative test result that cannot be older than 48 hours.

Hessen: There is no entry ban, but there is an accommodation ban for travelers from risk areas. Anyone who can prove with a medical certificate that there is no indication of a corona infection can stay overnight. The country announced that it would revoke the regulation on Monday.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: After weeks of contention and a few days before an expected court ruling, the state government and the tourism industry agreed Saturday that a current negative corona test would be sufficient for the Northeast holidays starting Wednesday. Therefore, the previously required multi-day quarantine and a second post-test are no longer required.

Lower Saxony: Entry into Germany is not restricted. Daytime tourism is possible. There are no quarantine requirements for German risk areas. The Lower Saxony Higher Administrative Court declared the ban on accommodation for travelers from German Crown hotspots illegal in an urgent procedure and suspended it.

North Rhine-Westphalia: In NRW there are no restrictions and, at the moment, there is no accommodation ban for tourists from national risk areas.
