The Novak Djokovic incident concerns the world of tennis. The world number one has been remorseful after his disqualification from the US Open of tennis professionals on social media and apologized for the scandal. “This whole situation leaves me really sad and empty,” said an Instagram post from the 33-year-old Serbian published Monday night.
He wanted to take his misconduct on the field and the subsequent disqualification as a “lesson.”
Djokovic had angrily struck a ball in his round of 16 in New York on Sunday against Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta after losing a service game in the first set and hitting a linesman.
Djokovic didn’t hit the ball in the direction of the linesman on purpose, but he fell and then had obvious breathing problems. The tennis pro ran towards her, the woman does not appear seriously injured. However, the referees had no other option, for Djokovic the tournament is over.
