Banging, screaming or rock belly? Stuttgart elected a new mayor on Sunday. The first results are released shortly after the polls close at 6 pm We show the current status.
Stuttgart – On Sunday, the people of Stuttgart elected a new mayor. After no candidate achieved an absolute majority of the votes in the first ballot, a simple majority is sufficient in the second ballot this Sunday: whoever gets the most votes is the new mayor.
Frank Nopper (CDU), Marian Schreier (independent, but SPD member) and Hannes Rockenbauch (SÖS) race each other. Polling stations closed at 6 p.m. and the first results were available shortly after. The table shows the current status:
In the first vote on November 8, Frank Nopper was clearly ahead at 31.8 percent. Veronika Kienzle (Greens) came in second with 17.2 percent, but has since retired.
Third place three weeks ago was Marian Schreier (independent / SPD) with 15 percent, followed by Hannes Rockenbauch (SÖS) with 14 percent.
