According to health authorities, the number of new infections every day in Germany has increased significantly compared to the previous week. The number of deaths has also reached a new record.

In Germany, health authorities informed the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) of 410 new coronavirus-related deaths in 24 hours. A new high was thus reached on Wednesday (as of November 25 at 00:00). The total number of deaths increased accordingly to 14,771. The highest level so far was reached in mid-April with 315 deaths reported in one day.

Again, a host of new infections.

The number of new corona infections reported in 24 hours was 18,633 on Wednesday. That was a good 1,000 cases more than a week ago, according to information from the RKI on Wednesday morning. Last Wednesday, the number of new infections reported was 17,561. On Friday, a peak of 23,648 reported cases was reached. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has counted a total of 961,320 infections detected with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany. The RKI estimates that around 656,400 people have recovered.

According to RKI’s situation report on Tuesday night, the so-called seven-day R was 0.90 (previous day: 0.97). This means that 100 infected people infect almost 100 more people. The value represents the onset of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides.
