Los Angeles Lakers are back on the NBA throne. The team around superstar LeBron James won Game 6 of the final against the Miami Heat on Monday (October 12, 2020) and clinched the title.

The Californians won the sixth game of the final series against the Miami Heat in Orlando / Florida with 106: 93, the best-of-seven series ended 4: 2. James fulfilled the title mission in his second season with the Lakers, the player of 35 year old gets his fourth championship ring. In the 106: 93 win, James was the game’s best pitcher with 28 points. He also contributed 14 rebounds and ten assists, a triple-double in the most important game of the season for the Lakers.

James is named MVP again

The 16-time All-Star player had previously triumphed twice with Miami and once with his home club, the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two-time Olympic champion is only the third player after Robert Horry (7 titles) and John Salley (4), who triumphs in the NBA with three different teams. For the fourth time in his career he also received the award as the most valuable player of the final series (MVP), only Michael Jordan (six) was chosen more often.

“I wanted to bring this team back to where it belongs. Being part of such a historic club is an incredible feeling,” said James.

A ten-year dry streak ended for the Lakers. Most recently, the franchise won the NBA title in 2010 with club icon Kobe Bryant, who died in a fatal accident in the spring. This year LA was in the play-offs for the first time since 2013.

The sixth game was already decided at halftime

The Lakers, in which Anthony Davis had 19 points and 15 assists, had a chance to win the title on Saturday. The prominent Jimmy Butler was able to avoid it with his heat.

After the return of Bam Adebayo on Friday, the Heat were able to turn to second major player Goran Dragic, who had to take a break during the final series. Adebayo had 25 points at the end, but neither he, nor Dragic nor Jimmy Butler, who was so outstanding recently, could do anything against the strong defensive performance of the Lakers.

Meanwhile, the team was 36 points behind. The game was already decided at halftime (64:36 for the Lakers).
