National team: Change from Löw to Hummels, Boateng and Müller? | FC Bayern

The Presidium of the DFB has decided the future of Joachim Löw. The 60-year-old is still the national coach. Following the announcement, it transpires how the 2014 world champion coach plans to join the national team with BVB’s Mats Hummels and FC Bayern’s Jérôme Boateng and Thomas Müller, who were eliminated in 2019.

According to information from “Sport 1”, a return of the trio “is no longer unthinkable.” As a result, Löw would gain the full backing of the national team manager, Oliver Bierhoff, and the DFB presidium if he regained Hummels, Boateng and Müller.

After “Bild” reported late last week that Löw was “open” to a return of the trio, the tabloid added details of the simulation games on Monday, citing its own information.

Consequently, Löw will not designate his three long-time teammates for the upcoming international matches in March. For Germany there are three test matches on the program. The opponents have yet to be determined.

Regarding MS, Hummels, Boateng and Müller should not be left out yet. If the three veterans show “clearly better performances” than their predominantly much younger competitors by the time they are nominated in May, Löw will likely bring them back after all, they say.

The national coach had never categorically ruled out a comeback by Rio’s three heroes in the past. Basically, Löw would prefer to continue with his younger team.

Hummels (70 internationals), Boateng (76) and Müller (100) had sent Löw off a few months after the preliminary round of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, a decision that is still much discussed, which at least came at a surprising moment.
