Sagard (Ruegen Island) – A two-year-old girl on the island of Rügen was seriously injured by the bites of a bull terrier.
The girl said she played with the dog Saturday in Sagard in front of an apartment building, as she had done many times before, police said.
Suddenly, the dog, which did not have a muzzle, fell on the girl for unclear reasons and bit her several times. The two-year-old boy arrived at the Greifswald University Hospital with serious facial injuries in a rescue helicopter. There is no danger to life.
An investigation was launched against the 42-year-old dog owner for negligent bodily injury and violation of the dog owner’s regulation. “The animal initially remained in strict condition with the owner,” police said.
The girl and her parents visited her grandmother, who lives in the same apartment building as the dog’s owner.
The Bull Terrier fighting dog breed is found in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as in most other federal states, on the “dangerous dog breeds” list.
