The demo was only registered for 80 participants. Distance rules were sometimes ignored. The police did not resolve the protest.
Several thousand people protested against the crown rules in Munich on Saturday. Around 3,000 people gathered at Marienplatz, some in violation of Corona’s distance rules. They were protesting against what they considered to be strict infection protection regulations in Bavaria and Germany and for the protection of fundamental rights.
The demonstration had been recorded, but only for 80 participants, said a spokesman for the Munich police headquarters. This number of people stayed in an area of Marienplatz covered with a flap and complied with the distance rules, according to a police press release. However, many people came who also participated in the demonstration outside the barrier.
According to eyewitnesses, protesters in connection with the crown pandemic have accused politicians and medical professionals of panicking and restricting the fundamental rights of the population. Opponents of vaccination were also among the protesters. Police tried to use loudspeaker announcements to press for compliance, the spokesperson said, but to no avail.
For reasons of proportionality and to avoid escalation, law enforcement officers reportedly let the demonstration go and did not dissolve it. All participants had behaved peacefully. A separate demonstration of right-wing people with approximately 25 people was dissolved, which took place at the same time.
