According to media reports, dozens of employees of the Secret Service, which is responsible for protecting the president of the United States, have been absent due to the corona pandemic. The Washington Post reports that more than 130 law enforcement employees have recently tested positive or are in quarantine due to contact with infected colleagues. The CNN news channel spoke of a “dozen” employees. The Secret Service declined to comment on the requested reports.

According to the Washington Post, some of the cases are related to President Donald Trump’s campaign appearances in the weeks leading up to the November 3 election. Infections are also possible in the White House itself. Trump had held several events there in recent weeks, with many participants not wearing a protective mask.

Trump himself tested positive for the corona virus in early October. Many of his employees were also infected, including White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
