US President Donald Trump reportedly raised his eyebrows on a trip to France because he is said to have called fallen soldiers “idiots.” Now there are more revelations about his stay in Paris.

During a trip to France two years ago, US President Donald Trump is said to have described fallen American soldiers as “losers” and “idiots”; Now there are new revelations about the trip: Instead of visiting a US military cemetery, Trump is with him. The November 2018 visit was held longer at the residence of the US ambassador in Paris, the Bloomberg news agency reported. He admired various works of art at the Hôtel de Pontalba and later brought them to Washington on Air Force One.

Trump’s spokesman Judd Deere confirmed that the artwork was taken. Trump took them to Washington to display them in a “prominent” place in the White House, he told the AFP news agency.

Trump: “Why should I visit this cemetery?”

However, according to the Bloomberg report, Trump’s spontaneous decision certainly attracted attention. Lawyers for the US State Department quickly checked whether he was allowed to take the artwork. However, they gave the green light because they are already owned by the United States government. According to Bloomberg, it was, among other things, a portrait and bust of America’s founding father, Benjamin Franklin.

The American magazine “The Atlantic” reported a few days ago that Trump had described the American soldiers who had fallen during World War I as “losers” and “idiots” during the trip to France. Therefore, the American president had rejected a planned visit to the Aisne-Marne American military cemetery near Paris with the words: “Why should I visit this cemetery? It is full of losers.”

Trump denied the allegations in a series of angry tweets. On Friday, the Republican, who wants to be reelected for a second term in November, said it was a “false story.” For him, fallen soldiers are “absolute heroes”.
