Microsoft: Xbox Series S Launching Nov 10, 2020 – X Probably Too

Did they even come close to imagining the day at Microsoft? After several leaks (images and specs on Golem.de), Microsoft presented the Xbox Series S along with the price on September 8, 2020. At night it was also the release date communicated– The console will be available on November 10.

Stellenmarkt

  1. Limbach Group SE, Heidelberg
  2. enowa AG, Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Hannover, Hamburg

The date can be seen in the embedded trailer, which is about Xbox Series S. So the date only applies to the cheaper of the two consoles. But it seems hard to imagine that the more powerful Xbox Series X will hit the market some other time.

The American magazine Windows Central reports without naming the sources that both devices will be launched on November 10, 2020. However, it should be noted that the date could officially only apply to the US, but the calendar for Europe should hardly look very different.

The Xbox Series S will cost around 300 euros. The price of the most powerful X is not yet known. It’s a bit more critical because Sony might be tempted to undermine it with one of the two Playstation 5 versions. In the case of the S-Xbox, this is unlikely to work with the PS5’s driveless digital edition.

The exact specifications of the Xbox Series S are not yet available. Above all, it is clear that there is no drive installed and that the NVMe SSD is 512GB in size. If you need more space, you can use external SSDs, which are connected via a proprietary interface and then need to be as fast as the internal mass storage device. The Xbox Series X NVMe SSD offers 1TB of data.

Microsoft has also announced that the S will offer a 120fps frame rate at a resolution of 1440p (2,560 x 1,440 pixels). Also, it says in the trailer that the S should be capable of “4K streaming media playback” (ie video images) and “4K upscaling for games.” The latter likely means that the console calculates games in a lower resolution and scales the result to 4K monitors.
