With the success in Italy, the 21-year-old also improves in the driver rankings. The jewel lays the foundation for victory early on, with a spectacular jump in places.

After a spectacular start, Mick Schumacher claimed his first Formula 2 victory of the season at Monza. The son of record Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher relegated Hitech Grand Prix driver Luca Ghiotto to second place in the 15th race of the season on Saturday. Art-Grand-Prix’s Christian Lundgaard finished third at the Autodromo Nazional di Monza.

For Schumacher it was the second success in the junior category, he improved to third place in the drivers standings. In 2019, the 21-year-old Prema driver won a sprint race at the Hungaroring. “Enjoy every second,” he recommended the command post to the happy German winner, who hugged his crew at the finish.

Schumacher could no longer be kicked off the top

Schumacher got off to a brilliant start. He climbed from seventh to second before turn one. Britain’s Callum Ilott, who had been the leader until then, was the first top rider to change tires on lap twelve. But the stop completely failed. The Uni-Virtuosi-Pilot returned to the track as the rear.

Schumacher pitted a lap later and had no problems. After two-thirds of the 30-lap race, he again took the lead. The Prema driver confidently kept the sensitive tires under control and could no longer be pushed out of the front. In the shortest sprint race on Sunday (11.10am), Schumacher wants to go back a lot.
