The Chancellor wants to relax!

“There is a justified longing for an opening,” Angela Merkel (66, CDU) said Monday at the CDU Presidium and Federal Board meeting. BILD learned this from the participants.

Merkel’s plan: “Four initial steps without the yo-yo effect,” he said. According to information from BILD, Merkel has not yet given details of what the four-step plan to get out of the crown lock might look like. A working group headed by Foreign Minister Helge Braun should work out concrete steps starting Tuesday.

Merkel outlined three areas that should be bundled together as packages of an opening strategy. On the one hand it is about the area of personal contacts, on the other it is about schools and professional schools as well as a third package with sports groups, restaurants and culture. The goal is to put together packages to make the openings possible and then adapt.

According to Merkel, the desire for vacancies must be combined with security. The openings should be accompanied by tests.

Starting this Tuesday, a working group will meet with the head of the Foreign Ministry, Helge Braun (48), and the heads of the state chancelleries of the federal states on the issue of vacancies. The next Prime Minister’s Conference with the Chancellor is in preparation, scheduled for March 3. The goal is then to present plans for possible initial steps.

Braun also said that one had to start cautiously testing as input. This included, first of all, tests, the second step was the follow-up of the contacts and better masks.

► Because: The spread of the mutation has increased and the R-value has increased by 0.3 compared to the previous Corona variant, the Chancellor said.

“Smart opening strategies are needed for private contacts, schools, universities, vocational schools, restaurants, sports clubs, etc.,” Merkel said in front of the Union leaders.

And he convinced his own party leaders to be aware: Previous prime minister conferences had been heavily influenced by election campaigns, so a “uniform union line is essential,” Merkel said.
