Chancellor Angela Merkel has welcomed the federal states’ draft resolution on the crown’s measures, but calls for some more adjustments. There are still “some points that we can grasp more firmly with the countries,” Merkel said, according to participants at the meeting of the Union’s parliamentary group in Berlin. “We still have work to do.” The Chancellor was quoted as saying the federal states’ proposals “would largely gain our support” in major deliberations on Wednesday. The draft is “a good piece of paper” that “basically takes into account the philosophy” of the federal government. “We need joint action from the federal and state levels to reduce the numbers,” Merkel said accordingly.
