First lady Melania Trump canceled her first campaign appearance alongside US President Donald Trump in nearly two months. Melania Trump suffered from a “persistent cough” and would not travel as a precaution, said her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham. But after recovering from Covid-19, he is doing better every day. Melania Trump was supposed to accompany her husband to his campaign event on Tuesday night (local time) in Erie in the state of Pennsylvania.

Melania Trump made the final campaign for her husband’s reelection with a speech in the Rose Garden of the White House at the Republican Party Conference on August 25. Otherwise, it was notably restricted during the election campaign. Other members of the Trump family, however, appear again and again in the election campaign.

Donald and Melania Trump tested positive for the corona virus in early October. While the president was hospitalized for three days, his wife remained in the White House. Son Barron, 14, was also infected, but remained symptom-free, according to his mother.

Last week, Melania Trump stated that she had now tested negative for the virus. Regarding the course of his illness, he said that he had been diagnosed with “minimal symptoms”, but that they all occurred at the same time. “It seemed like a roller coaster of symptoms in the days that followed,” the former Slovenian model wrote. “I had body aches, coughs, and headaches, and I felt extremely tired most of the time.”

President Trump, who in his own words “healed,” has already fully reentered the election campaign and has been holding campaign events for more than a week. The 74-year-old Republican is two weeks ahead of the Nov. 3 election in polls behind his Democratic challenger Joe Biden, including in the important key state of Pennsylvania.
