In retail and local public transport, mouth protection is now mandatory throughout Saxony. The mouth and nose can also be covered with a cloth.

Dresden Saxony is making progress: Starting Monday, the Free State will introduce a mask requirement on public transport and in stores. An offense is considered an administrative offense and can therefore be fined.

This is reasonable because it allows the crown’s restrictions to be relaxed, said Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (44, CDU).

The mask requirement is part of the new Corona ordinance, which runs until May 3. Health Minister Petra Köpping (61, SPD) assumes that other federal states will do the same.

A simple cloth or scarf is enough to cover the nose and mouth, says Kretschmer. Nonmedical protection is available in many places.

“If we go that far with relaxation, that’s the correct answer,” said Kretschmer.

Stores are not required to provide masks to their customers. How it was verified was not clear Friday.

“The transportation companies themselves, such as business owners or their agents, are supposed to ensure that customers are covered accordingly,” he said alone.

At the same time, Kretschmer emphasized that the ice was thin and that the loosening could also be removed if the number of infections increased.

These crown rules also apply from Monday:

– You can leave the apartment again without good reason. However, contact in public is only allowed to another person outside the home.

– Excursions, for example to Saxon Switzerland, are possible. The radius of 15 kilometers around the place of residence is canceled. But the necessary distance must always be kept. National excursions (not exactly defined) are still taboo.

– Stores with a sales area of less than 800 square meters may reopen, including DIY stores and garden centers, but not furniture stores. It is prohibited to close the sales area in order to open.

– Shopping centers are still narrow, but shopping centers beyond basic supply with a separate customer entrance from outside are allowed to open.

– The gastronomy is still tight. Kretschmer: “We see the problems.” There could be relief from the end of May.

– Museums, zoos, libraries, playgrounds are still dense, club sports are still prohibited. Jogging, walking, or climbing are permitted.

– The worship services of up to a maximum of 15 visitors are allowed again; Here too, Saxony is advancing.

– There is a limit of 15 people for baptisms, weddings and funerals. Therefore, private parties are not expressly permitted.

– The right to emergency care in kindergartens is being extended, for example, to artisans, vendors or lawyers. Condition: Both parents must work in these professions.

Meanwhile, the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has followed suit with the mask requirement on local transport.

The exact rules will be implemented in the coming weeks. As always, protection is the number one priority.
