Manchester / Salford: snakes as protection for the mouth and nose are not allowed on the bus

In North West England, a man has been seen on a bus with a live snake around his neck and mouth. Passengers on the bus en route to Manchester would initially have thought that the passenger was wearing particularly colorful mouth and nose protection, the “Manchester Evening News” reported.

“At first I thought he was really wearing a crazy mask, then he let it crawl by the handles,” a witness said, according to the report. “It didn’t really bother anyone on the bus, but a man in the back filmed a video. It was definitely entertaining.”

Photos of the passenger in a white T-shirt and jeans show him with a snake around his mouth and neck that looks like a python. He did not wear a mask as prescribed.

A spokesman for the local transport company for the Greater Manchester area recalled that face and nose masks, scarves or scarves are accepted as masks. There is some room for interpretation: “But we do not think this includes the use of snake skin, especially if it is still on the snake.”
