In Lübeck, the police arrested a 57-year-old man who allegedly killed a suspected thief. The shooter allegedly shot the 38-year-old victim after entering a home. The police and the prosecutor announced. He is being investigated for involuntary manslaughter.

Based on investigators’ findings so far, the 38-year-old entered the seemingly empty building with a friend early Wednesday morning through a basement window. On the second floor, the two men were surprised by the 57-year-old man who apparently lives there. “This terrified the intruders, who then fled,” investigators said.

Three shots from behind

The 57-year-old man has launched into the chase. Although the 38-year-old man’s alleged accomplice managed to escape unharmed, the victim was killed with three shots in the back from a sharp weapon. Neighbors found the seriously injured man on the street and alerted rescuers. He died shortly after in hospital.

When police searched the home that night, officers found the alleged shooter on the roof. He said he did not resist arrest. Next to him was a pistol. Two more firearms, a revolver and a long pistol, were found in the house. The man had the necessary weapons permits.

Because investigators said they also found a box of ammunition at night, they arrived Thursday with experts from the explosive ordnance disposal service. They found a hand grenade. There is no more information about it yet. The accused must appear before the judge in the afternoon. It was said that he did not comment on the accusation.
