Cars, trucks and cyclists rush into Tuesday morning traffic on Goebenstrasse in Berlin-Schöneberg. There is nothing to indicate that there was a shooting here on Monday. Between a sports bar and the offices is the backyard, from where an injured person was taken the day before.

The clerk at a small store about 20 meters from the backyard says, “At first I thought it might be noisy cars,” he says. “Then I heard two more shots and it scared me. I closed my shop door and then I saw an injured person walking past my window. “

A resident and her daughter run into the backyard, where a lawnmower can be heard. “I saw it from my apartment,” says the mother. First, a man ran up to another young man with a baseball bat in the backyard parking lot. Then three other men grabbed him and continued to threaten him. “I’m still quite shocked,” said the resident, “but these are people with whom there are always problems here,” she says. The eldest daughter thinks the shooting is terrible. “Actually, what I feel most for the man,” he says.

Two other residents standing in front of the courtyard say there were many rumors circulating in the neighborhood. They themselves would not have heard of the shooting. “There are as many versions as there are people here,” says one. The area is not particularly remarkable, says the other resident: “This is not Wannsee, but it is not like the worst corners of Neukölln either.” Goebenstrasse runs on Schöneberg between Pallasstrasse at the corner of Potsdamer Strasse and Yorckstrasse.

The video shows how the men drag an apparently injured man from the driveway

A short video on social media apparently shows scenes that took place in Goebenstrasse: The recording shows several people running out of a driveway of a house on the street, gunshots and screams are heard. Among the people who run out there are two people, who are carrying a long object. Shortly after, a man, accompanied by three others, led an apparently injured person down the driveway onto the street, where they ran towards a stopped police car. The wounded man is eventually taken to the sidewalk, where men and a rescuer gather around him.

No new information came from the prosecutor on Tuesday morning. When asked, a spokesperson said news can be expected later in the day. But so far he has not been able to provide any information about the detained man, or his age, or whether he is a suspect or is already known to the police. It is also unclear if the victim was injured not by gunshots, but possibly by a machete found by officials. Likewise, no details are known about the group of people from which the shots are said to have been fired.

Half a dozen police cars were parked Monday night in the Goebenstrasse area, which runs between Potsdamer Strasse / Pallasstrasse and Yorckstrasse. Large areas of the area were cordoned off with a tape recorder. First, on Monday it was said that one or more perpetrators from a larger group of people had shot a 24-year-old several times.

However, prosecutors later said that a man had become serious but there were no definitive injuries. “According to initial findings, the dispute is based on a dispute between two acquaintances,” the prosecutor wrote on Twitter.
