There is no more excitement: after two almost flawless races on his home track, Felix Loch had to hand over the world single-seater title to Russian Roman Repilow. Previously, Loch had won all eight World Cup races. At the World Cup, on the other hand, things have not gone as expected so far: After fourth place in Friday’s sprint, the 31-year-old now remains second in the car. For the third time in his career, the seven-time world champion wins the silver medal.

Repilow started the decisive second race just two thousandths of a second apart. The defending champion had a dream career with no visible errors. After adding the two races, the Russian was 0.062 seconds ahead of the exceptional German sled, which had set a new record in the first race with 48.803 seconds. Third was Austrian Olympic champion David Gleirscher (+ 0.217 seconds) after a strong chase in second.

Gleirscher, who had already won bronze in the sprint, also shattered Max Langenhan and Johannes Ludwig’s hopes of clinching a World Championship medal with his solid second race. Langenhan (+ 0.249) was still ahead of Gleirscher until the last half time, but was caught by the Austrian in the closing meters and pushed to fourth place. Ludwig (+ 0.251) finished fifth, the fourth German in the league, Moritz Elias Bollmann, finished the competition in eleventh (+ 0.973).
