The state government of Lower Saxony has decided: Like many other federal states, the state now also wants to turn tourists away from risk areas.
Anyone coming as a tourist from a corona risk area will not be able to stay in hotels, guesthouses or holiday apartments in Lower Saxony. Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) announced Thursday in state parliament. A corresponding state ordinance will be initiated. He left it open when the new rule would go into effect.
Exception in case of negative test result
This should work for travelers from areas with more than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. The date of entry into Lower Saxony is decisive, Weil said. Short-term stays should be avoided from having to be interrupted. If you can show a negative result on the Corona test, you can continue your holidays in Lower Saxony from risk areas.

Because: decision not “happy”
Prime Minister Weil justified the decision to ban overnight stays with Thursday an increasing number of infections, as well as the advance of other federal states: Lower Saxony did not want to be left alone and invite guests from risk areas, so to speak. Weil said the state government did not impose the overnight ban “lightly.” You know that new requirements in tourism create great uncertainties, says Weil. The prime minister also promised more aid for hotels if needed.
Criticisms of the opposition
The FDP and the Greens criticized that there were too many unanswered questions; in particular, it should be clarified as soon as possible when the ban is applied. Greens MP Meta Janssen-Kucz said with a view to the autumn break: Travel activity on the coast and on the islands is in full swing over the weekend.
