Were the dead victims of cannibalism?

After examining parts of the bone, Berlin investigators uncover a gruesome crime. A man missing since September may have been the victim of a cannibal. At least the prosecution is investigating relevant information.

After the remains of a Berlin man who had been missing for about two months, there are signs of cannibalism. That’s what the prosecutor’s spokesman, Martin Steltner, said when asked. Previously, “Bild” and “BZ” reported (online) that there was a suspicion that the missing person was the victim of a cannibal. The suspect was taken into custody. The spokesman for the Berlin prosecution declined to comment on further details of the investigation.

On Thursday, a judge issued an arrest warrant for low motive sexual murder against the 41-year-old German. The suspect is said to work as a teacher and has been on relevant forums. That was also reported by “Bild”.

The crime came to light after bone fragments were found in a Berlin forest more than ten days ago. They are the remains of the 44-year-old German who has disappeared since September 5. Then a homicide investigation revealed that he was the victim of a crime. According to police, the man was an installer in the construction of the airline. He had left his shared apartment in Berlin shortly before midnight and initially disappeared without a trace, according to an October statement.

Investigations by the homicide commission and the prosecution, in which, among other things, people and body detection dogs were used, subsequently led to the 41-year-old man from Berlin-Pankow, who is now in custody on suspicion of sexual murder. The “Cannibal von Rotenburg” case of 2000 was known as a spectacular crime in Germany. The aggressor had met his future victim through a personal announcement on an Internet forum. The Frankfurt Regional Court sentenced the killer to life imprisonment in 2006.
