Three people injured in a letter bomb explosion in the Lidl administration in Neckarsulm
There was an explosion in an administration building of the Lidl discount store in Neckarsulm. Three people were injured when they opened a letter. It is not yet known who sent the shipment.
BThree people were injured on Wednesday in an explosion at a Lidl administration building in Neckarsulm, Baden-Württemberg. In the afternoon, the explosion occurred when a letter was opened, the discounter said. “We are deeply shocked by the incident and wish our employees a good and speedy recovery,” he said. The three injured received immediate medical attention.
Police spoke of a larger incident. As reported by “Heilbronn Voice”, the incident is said to have occurred at 2:50 pm. Rescue workers were at the scene and a rescue helicopter was also in action, said a police spokesman for the AFP news agency.
The Lidl administration building is located in an industrial zone. According to local media, the area around the building has been cordoned off and the building has been evacuated. There were a little more than 100 employees.
Nothing is yet known about one or more possible perpetrators and why. From security circles it was said in the afternoon that it was not clear if it was a letter or a package bomb.
Only on Tuesday there was an explosion at a beverage manufacturer in Eppelheim. An employee was injured. He suffered blast trauma. There was no material damage. Eppelheim is about 60 kilometers from Neckarsulm. In this case, too, a package should have been responsible. However, it is not yet known whether there is a connection between the two incidents.
