The meeting under the motto “Fight against fascists in uniform – Autonomous Kiezdemo” with initially 150 people in Herderpark was peaceful at first. Subsequently the number of protesters increased to 300. At times, the chaos of the black masked men suddenly began to move towards the Connewitzer Kreuz and threw bottles, stones and firecrackers in all directions, also meeting with the emergency services.
When the police intervened, the perpetrators fled into the park and side streets. “The situation calmed down shortly after,” said police spokesman Olaf Hoppe. However, allegations were made that the Berlin Federal Police supporting her had acted too brutally.
Hoppe: “The scenes apparently took place on Herderstrasse. There are indications that the police did not act professionally in all cases ”.
