Following a serious truck accident, traffic jams on the A2 near Lehrte (Hannover region). The motorway was temporarily closed completely in the direction of Berlin. As a police spokeswoman told NDR.de, three trucks were involved in the collision. Including a dangerous goods transporter that had loaded a hundred barrels with low-level radioactive consumables for medicine and research. Therefore, the barrels were not damaged. Two people were injured.
Detour on the A7
The driver of a 40-year-old semi-trailer apparently had to slow down in heavy traffic. A 50-year-old man driving behind him stopped in time. However, the 23-year-old driver of a later semi-trailer was unable to brake in time, so he drove his vehicle towards the 50-year-old semi-trailer and pushed it into the truck in front of him. The 40-year-old driver and the 23-year-old were slightly injured. Due to the radioactive load, the radiation protection professional fire brigade in Hannover started to measure the radiation values. The highway had to be temporarily closed for this. The damages are estimated at around 140,000 euros.
