American talk show host Larry King is dead
For two and a half decades, Larry King interviewed celebrities from politics, society and culture for CNN. The American journalist has acquired legendary status through his talks. Now he has died at 87. It was recently announced that he was infected with the corona virus.
Legendary television journalist Larry King has died, his team announced it through his Twitter account. King was 87 years old. Consequently, he died in a Los Angeles hospital that morning. The cause of death was not initially disclosed. In early January it became known that King had been infected with the corona virus and was in hospital with Covid-19 disease. Initially, nothing was known about the severity of his illness.
King hosted the Larry King Live talk show on CNN for 25 years. On the show, he interviewed Hollywood stars, top executives, and top politicians, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President George W. Bush. Its trademarks include oversized glasses, suspenders, and colorful ties. King’s style of interviews was notorious and is often copied at night in America to this day: King asked celebrities the supposedly simple questions that would interest people on the street.
In 2010, King retired. However, he continued to conduct interviews for his website, and since 2012 has broadcast on the pay station Ora TV, which he co-founded.
King suffered from diabetes and has had numerous health problems in the past, including multiple strokes and lung cancer. Born in New York in 1933, King had been married several times and had five children, two of whom died before him.
