The Prime Minister reacted with consternation: “We saw the little girl, we gave her first aid, we were afraid for her and we waited for it.” And also: “We knew about the critical situation the little girl was in.” when she was alive, the hope grew a little that the boy would make it.
“I am full of sadness,” Kretschmann said. His thoughts are with the parents, who have now experienced the worst that can happen to a mother and father: the death of their own child.
33-year-old suspects
The accident on wet road 81 north of Heilbronn also worries the judiciary. The Heilbronn Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched investigations into the child’s life-threatening injuries in the collision of a private car with Kretschmann’s vehicle column. A spokesman for authorities said Friday that there is suspicion of negligent bodily harm against a 33-year-old man said to have caused the accident.
The man in whose car the girl was sitting crashed into a vehicle accompanying Kretschmann’s company car that was stopped by the roadside Monday night.
The head of government was traveling with his entourage on the highway when his company car skidded on a wet road, collided with a railing and stopped on the shoulder. Soon after, the car with three occupants collided with the support vehicle. It was not just the one-year-old who was injured. The man, the boy’s father, was seriously injured and a 29-year-old woman in the passenger seat was slightly injured. The head of government was unhurt.
