After two knife attacks with one dead and one injured on Monday night in Celle, the police do not assume a connection between the two acts. Two suspects were arrested.

In the first case, a 54-year-old man was stabbed to death Monday night in his Hehlentor district apartment. Police are investigating the murder of a 45-year-old man. This is the nephew of the victim. He is accused of stabbing his uncle in the upper body once during a fight while he was drunk. The 54-year-old man died shortly after in his apartment from his injuries.

Suspect just released from custody

Cyclist assaulted 59 year old

According to their own statements, the police do not see any connection to a violent crime that took place almost parallel to the Neuenhäusen district of Celle. There, a 59-year-old pedestrian was attacked by an approaching young cyclist. The 59-year-old man had to undergo emergency surgery. His life was no longer in danger on Tuesday. A 20-year-old suspect was captured Monday night after a witness gave notice. He is charged with attempted murder. His motive, as well as the possible influence of alcohol or drugs, are the subject of further investigation, he said.

All clear after midnight

Due to the initially unclear dangerous situation, the police had asked residents in the Harburger Berg area via Twitter to stay home on Monday night while police officers searched for the perpetrators with submachine guns.
