Murder charges against 17-year-olds after being shot in Kenosha
After some violent protests, things are calming down in the American city of Kenosha. A 17-year-old is now charged with murder after shooting protesters.
African American Jacob Blake was shot by police officers in Kenosha. He is seriously injured in hospital, and was apparently tied to the bed, although he is paralyzed at the hip.

A white police officer seriously wounded Blake Sunday in the town of Kenosha, Wisconsin, with seven shots in the back at point-blank range. The incident, captured on cell phone video, sparked new protests against police violence and racism. Blake is currently paralyzed, according to his family and attorneys, and may never be able to walk again.
The protests were also violent, with two people killed and one injured Wednesday night. At least the incident in which one person was shot and another was injured is recorded on video. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old has been charged with two murders. He is also charged, among other things, with attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons, according to court documents.
Family father Jacob Blake, who was seriously wounded by seven bullets in Sunday’s police raid, is conscious at the hospital, his father told the Chicago Sun-Times. A video of the police operation shows Blake walking towards his car, followed by two policemen with guns in hand. One of the guns is pointed at his back. When Blake opens the driver’s door and leans into the car, shots are fired. Blake’s children, ages three, five and eight, were sitting in the car.
Blake had a knife in his vehicle, Wisconsin State Attorney General Joshua Kaul said Wednesday. The knife had been secured to the floor inside the driver’s side. The man had previously told police “at a certain point” that he had a knife, Kaul said. No other weapons were found in the car. Kaul did not provide further information on the course of the incident. Kenosha Police still have no cameras on their bodies. The course of the incident, videotaped by eyewitnesses, had sparked allegations of unwarranted police violence.
