She is seen as smart, warm, and tenacious: Kamala Harris has had a picture-book career and becomes the first black woman to serve as the vice president of the United States.

Kamala Harris campaigned in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania the day before the election. Wrapped in a thick black jacket, her black hair blowing in the wind, the California senator greets the audience.
Warm and full of energy
During the election campaign, Harris, who can also be strict, cultivated her image as a happy, warm and energetic woman alongside Joe Biden. His running mate and potential successor.
“Kamala is smart, strong. She has experience. A fighter for the middle class. She knows how to rule and make tough decisions. She can start this job right away,” Biden said of her.
Mother comes from India, father from Jamaica
But Biden chose the social-liberal senator and former Justice Minister not only because of her professional qualifications. But also as a gesture to the many black voters in his party. Harris’s mother is from India, father from Jamaica. “I’m black and I’m proud of it,” Harris said.
Harris, 56, has had a perfect career: At 30, she became San Francisco’s first black district attorney, then served six years as California’s Attorney General, again as the first black woman.
He’s not squeamish even with Biden
She has been a member of the Senate since 2017. There she made a name for herself as a sharp interrogator at hearings. And Joe Biden also felt that she is not scrupulous. Because actually Harris would have liked to become president.
Many Americans remember a scene from the primary campaign. He then attacked Biden personally, due to his youthful attitude on the issue of integrating schools. Later he rowed again: “It was just a debate” and of course he would do everything he could to get Biden elected.
Her husband brought two children into the marriage.
Harris is married to attorney Douglas Emhoff, who brought two daughters to the marriage. Cooking for the family is the best thing ever, Harris said over and over again during the election campaign. And that, of course, the title of vice president would be great. But it is even better that the children call her Mamala.
