The versatile Joshua Kimmich has long been an established star at Bayern.
He has now revealed in a YouTube portrait of the club with stars from the club’s history who he would have liked to be on the field with.
“With Matthew and with Titan (Oliver Kahn; Note D. Red.). That would have drawn me, especially with Oliver Kahn, of course because of his mentality. He is similar to Matthew because he was an outstanding footballer. Or I could have called Beckenbauer, “said Kimmich.
Kimmich on Schweinsteiger: “copied a lot of it”
But he copied a lot from another club icon, Bastian Schweinsteiger. “Especially in my youth I tried to learn a lot from him. He was also one who went ahead with a certain mindset. The World Cup final always represents this,” explained Kimmich.

He sees himself as a player “who doesn’t mainly go out on the field to shine, but I’m already trying to serve the team and thus help my teammates.”
In a brief question-and-answer session, he also revealed that Spanish attacker Álvaro Morata, then serving Juventus, had been his most uncomfortable opponent to date.
Kimmich gives private ideas
Outside the plaza, Kimmich reported on his school career. “Mathematics and sports were my favorite subjects. German was also good.” Originally he wanted to study as a teacher after school, in parallel to his professional career, Kimmich said. “But that was not possible with distance learning. So I have to wait until my degree is over.”
Swabian-born man has rediscovered reading books as a hobby. “It gives you different thoughts and you can dive into another world,” said Kimmich, describing the advantages.
In his homeland, he is still “rooted” and also carries savings as a Swabian virtue. “I am a frugal boy who does not live in a hurry and appreciates the things that make him happy,” Kimmich characterized himself.
