Joe Biden’s son died of a brain tumor five years ago. In his first speech as newly elected president, the Democrat remembers his son with a fond gesture.
Last night was already emotional, not only for Joe Biden himself, but for millions of Americans. The Democrat was elected the next president of the United States. In his first speech after the election victory, Biden addressed Americans and the world in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.
But one moment brought the emotional climax of the night: after Biden’s speech, fireworks lit up the sky and the Coldplay song “Sky Full of Stars” sounded. The song has special meaning for Biden, as Coldplay was his late son Beau’s favorite band, CNN reports. Up in the video or here you can see the emotional scene.
Son died of brain tumor
Beau Biden died of a brain tumor in 2015 at the age of 46. Coldplay singer Chris Martin performed the song “Til Kingdom Come” at his funeral. Martin had volunteered to perform when he learned that Beau was a huge fan.
A little background information on the largely unknown importance of Biden’s strolling music:

Joe Biden and his son are said to have had a close relationship; this gesture is also noticeable. In his speech, Biden also referred to Beau when he spoke of his love for the anthem “On Eagle’s Wings.” On Election Day, Biden had visited his son’s grave in Wilmington.
