An employee who tested positive for Corona at the meeting of the EU Council of Trade Ministers in Berlin says Germany’s Economy Minister Altmaier must now be quarantined. He’s doing very well, he says. Foreign Minister Maas had previously been quarantined.

After SPD Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, CDU Economy Minister Peter Altmaier also went into quarantine for crown. “This afternoon I learned that an employee of an EU minister who was present at the Council of Trade Ministers in Berlin tested positive for Corona,” he said. “As a precautionary measure, I quarantined at home. I tested negative on Friday and I’m fine.”

On Sunday and Monday, Altmaier organized the meeting of EU trade ministers in Berlin and highlighted the strict crown requirements for the meeting. As a precautionary measure, the CDU minister took a test on Friday to ensure that, as host, he would not infect guests from the 27 EU countries and Brussels. Of the guests, on the other hand, only those who came to Berlin from a risk zone had to be screened before their arrival.

The Foreign Ministry had previously announced on Wednesday that SPD politician Maas had entered quarantine because one of his bodyguards was infected with the virus. Therefore, Maas has to cancel his planned trip to Jordan. A first corona test at Maas on Wednesday was negative, a spokeswoman said. The Foreign Ministry is now working with the public health service to determine whether other people could be affected and to what extent and what measures should be taken. The duration of the Meuse’s quarantine was initially unclear.

Chancellor Angela Merkel had also been quarantined once because she had had contact with an infected doctor. This lasted 14 days and three tests were negative. On Tuesday, the president of the EU Council, Charles Michel, had to go into quarantine, so the EU summit was postponed for a week until October 1-2.
