The Berlin ICE crew had informed emergency services on Tuesday night because they wanted to exclude the women from the trip. “Both women were completely upset and could no longer walk independently,” officials in Hannover reported. Anyway, they refused to be admitted to a hospital. Instead, they wanted to go home.
Later, the federal police decided to take the elderly into so-called protective custody for their own safety. Each had to spend the night in a cell to sober up. After six hours they could go.
