Hofheim am Taunus – Uninvolved person dies in allegedly illegal car race on A66

According to police, an illegal race with three vehicles on Autobahn 66 killed one uninvolved person. One of the three cars hit the center board near Hofheim am Taunus in Hesse and then collided with a car not participating in the race, a police spokesman said Saturday night. Both cars are burned.

The person in the uninvolved car died but has not yet been identified. The 29-year-old driver who hit the railing with his car came to a clinic.

In the course of the accident, three other uninvolved cars were damaged. According to the spokesman, a 55- and 58-year-old driver arrived at a clinic. An 18-year-old driver is not receiving medical treatment.

The second of three drivers in the illegal race has now turned himself in to the police. The third is being registered. Autobahn 66 was completely closed for several hours on Saturday afternoon in the direction of Frankfurt. The investigation continues.
