After an allegedly fatal illegal car race on a Hessian motorway, police are still searching for one of the three drivers.

Meanwhile, the fugitive’s sports car was seized in Hofheim, police said. The second of the three drivers, a 26-year-old man, turned himself in to police. His car was found in North Rhine-Westphalia. An uninvolved person died in the accident. According to witnesses, there was previously an illegal car race.

A police spokesman said one of the three cars hit the center plank of the A66 near Hofheim am Taunus and then collided with a car not participating in the race. Both cars are burned.

Three other cars damaged

The victim in the uninvolved car died but has not yet been identified. The 29-year-old sports car driver came to a clinic for the first time. He has now been released from the clinic and taken into custody.

In the course of the accident, three other uninvolved cars were damaged. According to the spokesman, a 55- and 58-year-old driver arrived at a clinic. An 18-year-old driver is not receiving medical treatment. Autobahn 66 was completely closed for several hours on Saturday afternoon in the direction of Frankfurt. The investigation continues.
