The number of new corona infections has risen again to a peak: the Robert Koch Institute reports 2,828 new cases in one day, more than since April. The number of patients in intensive care units is also growing.
In Germany, the number of new coronavirus infections has reached the highest level since the second half of April. In one day, health authorities reported 2,828 new cases of corona, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). This means that the number of new infections is again higher than on Friday morning when, with 2,673 new infections in one day, the maximum value previously applicable since the second half of April was reported.
According to the RKI, at least 306,086 people in Germany have been shown to have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the Corona crisis. According to the RKI, the number of deaths related to a corona infection is 9562. That is 16 more than the day before. According to RKI estimates, around 267,700 people survived the infection.
More patients in intensive care units again
There is still an increase in the number of Covid 19 patients treated in intensive care. According to RKI’s current management report, 449 corona-infected people are currently being treated in intensive care, 219 of whom need ventilation. A week ago, the number of intensive care patients was 352, the week before it was 278. Currently, around 8,900 intensive care beds are available in German clinics.
Fewer people are infected abroad
Data from the RKI management report show that of those infected from September 28 to October 4, for whom information on the country of infection is available, 7.7 percent are likely to have been infected abroad. According to the current report, Germany, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Romania were most frequently named as possible infected countries over a four-week period.
