Deadly car race on A66: authorities investigate suspected murder

Police are still searching for the third driver of a sports car who allegedly participated in a fatal race on Autobahn 66 on Saturday. An alien woman died. The prosecutor issued three arrest warrants.
GRAMegen the three drivers of an alleged fatal car race on the A66 near Hofheim am Taunus are under investigation for murder. A driver for the Frankfurt prosecutor said Monday. An arrest warrant had been issued against him and the other two men who had already been arrested. The investigation is being carried out for homicide with minor motives and by means dangerous to the public. The “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” had previously reported on the murder charge.
The three men are said to have driven their sports cars in a race on the Autobahn on Saturday afternoon. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, one of them lost control of his vehicle when overtaking at about 200 km / h and collided with a car that was not participating in the race. An occupant of this vehicle died.
His identity has not yet been clarified, the body is likely to undergo an autopsy on Tuesday. Both cars were burned after the collision.
Three other bystanders were involved in the accident, two of whom were hospitalized. The 29-year-old driver of the sports car that crashed was taken to a clinic and later arrested. A 26-year-old from North Rhine-Westphalia surrendered to the police on the same day. The third sports car was found in a Hofheim district, the car is registered in Dubai according to the police. The driver is fleeting.
Three years ago, the speeders were sentenced to life in prison for the first time in Germany for murder. The case of the so-called Kudamm-Raser von Berlin passed to the Federal Court of Justice (BGH), the sentence against one of them for murder is now final. The other man is currently on trial in Berlin; the BGH had annulled the judgment against him.
