New additions to the supervisory board
Jürgen Klinsmann is followed by Hertha BSC according to information from “Sport Bild” and “Bild” Jens Lehmann (photo). The former goalkeeper will take the seat on the Berlin supervisory board, which Klinsmann finally released with his notorious resignation on February 11.
Accordingly, investor Lars Windhorst spoke in Lehmann’s favor and chose another supervisory board entry with Marc Kosicke, according to “dpa,” a Windhorst spokesperson has already confirmed the two new additions. Managing coach Kosicke, who among other things Jürgen Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann advised, according to the report, “take care of the strategic direction” of the club, while Lehmann was responsible for “sports questions”. After his sports career, the former national goalkeeper gained experience as an assistant coach for Arsène Wenger at Arsenal FC and FC Augsburg alongside Manuel Baum.

Through its subsidiary Tennor, Windhorst initially acquired 37.5 percent of Hertha BSC GmbH & Co.KGaA in June 2019 and paid € 125 million for it. For another 99 million euros, this share increased on November 8 to the maximum share of 49.9 percent in German professional football.
Consequently, the words of Lehmann and Kosicke will carry weight. However, the two newcomers alone cannot make any decisions at Hertha’s management level. Thanks to Windhorst, Berliners who finished 13th in the table were able to buy for a world record sum of € 78 million in January, also an all-time record for a German club in winter. The two most expensive additions to the “Big City Club” were Krzysztof Piatek (€ 27 million) and Lucas Tousart (€ 25 million; only in Berlin since the summer).
